Hello Sykes,
I have been asking around and unfortunately I cannot help you where you could langos in Budapest at night or late evening. Sorry, most of the langos places close at about 6pm or earlier.

Hello John,
there are so many Langos recipes in Hungarian that I really cannot help you with the one made at Lake Balaton. Some use milk and water, others only water, but - due to the warm summers at the lake and the fact that vendors tend to be economical with the ingredients - I would suppose the Langos you ate must have been made with water. The Langos recipes you find on the internet (including youtube) are more or less OK, but the problem is the authenticity of the flour. Hungarian flour is very high quality and excellent for making langos. If you can get it anywhere in the US it will definitely help to get close to the original langos. :) The rest of the ingredients are more international in a sense: water, salt, yeast and sunflower oil for frying the dough. One recipe you may wish to try is: half a liter of water, 1 packet of yeast (7g), a teaspoonful of salt, 4dl lukewarm water - this is for the dough. Sunflower oil is for frying. Hope this helps! :)

Hi. Back in 1969, my parents took us to Hungary while we were children. There was a Langos stand at Lake Balaton where we gorged ourselves! I have been trying to locate the authentic Langos recipe for the past 20 years with no luck ... the same way they made it at Lake Balaton. We had only salt on it, and it was fantastic! If you can help us with how to find this recipe that was used, that would be great!.

Thank you... from central Wisconsin, USA.
