Chez Daniel Restaurant (Chez Daniel Étterem): a bit of Provence in Budapest

Chez Daniel Restaurant (Chez Daniel Étterem) with its French cuisine orchestrated by French chef Daniel Labrosse, smallish quaint terrace and numerous wooden, and brass French cocks brings a glimpse of Provence in Budapest. The restaurant is on the way to or from the Heroes’ square (Millennial Monument, Museum of Fine Arts, etc.) on beautiful Andrassy avenue, which is flanked by Paris-like 19th century buildings.

Chez Daniel is on the list of Top 33 restaurants made by the Hungarian food blog, Chew.hu. Vegetarians watch out for the camembert chaud aux truffes (warm camembert with julienned white truffles). Likewise the cheese platter shows an allegiance to the tenets of French cuisine. Steel on the Food Police blog writes Chez Daniel has “definite highs and some strange and unexplicable lows” – like a marriage with ups and downs.

Anyway, as the owners explain it “the name ‘Bouchon’ comes from the French ‘La Bouchon’ meaning ‘the cork of the wine bottle’. More importantly however – and that was our main inspiration in choosing this name- it is also the name for little-, family-run restaurants in the province of Lyon.”

PS: the owners of Café Bouchon worked for Cafe Kör for several years, which means a kid of guarantee for a good job.
